California Navel Orange
The mutation causes the orange to develop a second navel orange at the base of the original fruit, opposite the stem, as a joined twin in a set of smaller segments embedded within the peel of the larger orange. From the outside, Navel Orange looks similar to the human navel, hence its name.

California Navel Oranges are known to be the best in the world.  They are grown in the heart of California and are sweet and juicy.  Navel Oranges are relatively easy to peel with no seeds.

California navel oranges are characterized to have little to no defects and they are sorted in fancy and choice grades. California Navel Orange season starts in December and continues through April.  The best eating quality generally falls between Christmas and March.
